Sports Council for Northern Ireland funds:

Range of grant size: minimum – maximum
Capital Sports Project Programme: £10,000 - £600,000

Athlete Support Programme: There is no minimum amount for this programme. The maximum award will depend on the level and type of award. There are two levels: Gold and Silver. Please see our website for more details.
Events Programme: Generally, £10,000 and above as we anticipate that groups that want less than £10,000 will apply through Awards for All.
Types of scheme (open / closed / targeted)
Capital and Events Programmes have rolling deadlines, there is no closing dates.
The Athlete Support Programme has closing dates per annum in February, June and October.
Geographical coverage
All of Northern Ireland.
Applicants for the Athlete Support programme must be:
- born in Northern Ireland or
- the child of a parent who was born in Northern Ireland or
- eligible (and available) to compete for Northern Ireland in the targeted competition.
Any priority areas / key messages (for example, partnership funding)
Capital Sports Project Programme: to give financial assistance for projects which show they are targeting areas of social need and addresses social exclusion.
Athletes Support Programme: sports’ Governing Bodies of Sport must submit applications for individuals and squads preparing for major competitions. Individuals are not eligible to apply. We require Governing Bodies to submit applications together with accompanying performance plans, 3 months prior to the start of the plan.
Events Programme: to support events that will create a lasting impact on sports development in Northern Ireland.
