What is the project?
The historic St Michael’s Way, a 12-mile footpath from Lelant to Marazion, is part of the network of pilgrims’ routes leading to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain. The project involved researching and raising awareness of the historic route, producing a video, undertaking conservation improvements to the path itself and employment of a project officer.

Young Roots
How much was given?
£24,900

Why was this project so good?
The project bought together more than 100 young people, many with learning difficulties and behavioural problems. As well as researching the heritage of St Michael’s Way, the participants learnt practical conservation skills and helped improve access to the route. A local filmmaker helped the young people create a film about the project. The DVD was shown to the local community, and copies were sent to local schools and organisations to further raise awareness of St Michael’s Way and the achievements of the project participants.
