The word ‘revenue’ can be used in two ways:

  • It can refer to the income produced by a given project or activity. Or
  • It can refer to project costs that are not related to the purchase of capital items, such as the development of property or large purchases.

Revenue costs can include salaries, volunteer expenses, administration costs, training and so on.

Running costs

Costs related to existing or ongoing projects, activities or resources currently provided by your group, for example ongoing staff costs and utility bills, regular rent payments, maintenance (including maintenance equipment), annual events and so on.
