The Thames Valley Youth Football Club provides the first step for many youngsters wanting to get into football. Interest from girls and boys in the Thames Valley area grows each year and now, thanks to The National Lottery, this thriving local football club have launched a new Saturday group to welcome more young people from the area.
Football4Fun enables them to offer an additional 50 children, from six to 15 years of age, the chance to learn how to play football and represent the club. Thanks to an increase in new members they have been able to create new clubs for different age groups, and enter more teams in the local Slough and Middlesex Leagues.
The Lottery funding has also allowed them to buy a set of brand new goals, cones, nets and balls. The project has given many of the children the chance to get regular exercise, make friends and have fun.
Club Chairman, Russell Barnett, described how it helped locally: “We work in a tough area of Slough and the Saturday sessions we got funding for have really helped change and improve young people's lives - they've gone on to improve their diets, lead healthier lifestyles and take part in positive activities.”
