The Orford Jubilee park in Warrington, north west England, was officially opened by HRH Queen Elizabeth II in May 2012. It is the largest Olympic legacy project outside London.
The new state of the art facilities within the £30 million Orford Park Project provide fantastic opportunities for the local community to take part in sport, improve their health and take part in cultural and educational activities. National Lottery funding contributed towards top class facilities including swimming pools, a health and fitness suite, sports hall, ICT suite and a library which was funded by the Big Lottery Fund's Community Libraries programme.
Cllr Terry O’Neill, leader of Warrington Borough Council said at the opening event: “I am absolutely delighted with what we have achieved; this brand new building allows the council to have many important services under one roof. This is something that will greatly benefit the local community and that the whole borough can be proud of. What we have here today is a state of the art facility in Warrington that will be the envy of the whole country.”
