About the project

Much of the project’s work takes place in MaD’s youth and community hub in Milton Keynes, where they are able to deliver affordable holiday, after school & evening activities for all age groups and abilities, however the project also goes out into the community to work with schools, young people in care, young parents, unemployed young people & young offenders.

When MaD secured £50,000 of Lottery funding from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund it enabled them to convert disused facilities in a community building into a fitness and dance studio and with new shower facilities, and attract new people to the project.

Project spokesperson Denise Davis-Boreham said: “The National Lottery funding means that we are able to provide a community sports facility in the city centre. It’s also provided us with opportunity to use the 2012 Olympics to inspire the local community to get involved.”

The project was one of 350 local community sports groups who were offered a total of £17.4 million through the Inspired Facilities Fund. This money was used to breathe new life into tired facilities that can be unattractive to sports participants, difficult to maintain and run, and to allow local clubs to buy or convert the facilities they use. In order to increase the accessibility and quality of grassroots sports centres.
