Not a lotto time left to enter the National Lottery Awards

Time is running out for people to nominate their favourite local charities and Good Causes for this year’s National Lottery Awards.

The Awards shine a light on the National Lottery-funded organisations changing communities and transforming lives. Over 370,000 National Lottery grants have been awarded since 1994. There are literally thousands of Lottery-funded projects across the UK deserving of recognition.

Projects making it to the final of the Awards will be recognised at a star-studded event broadcast on BBC One in the autumn. Over 3 million people tuned in to watch the show last year. They will also have a chance to win a £2,000 cash prize.

The deadline is Monday 12 March. So we urgently want to hear from anyone that knows of a local National Lottery-funded project that deserves some recognition.

National Lottery Draw Show host and new mum, Jenni Falconer, is calling on people in the UK to nominate local Good Causes for the National Lottery Awards 2012 – the annual search to find the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects.

Jenni says: “National Lottery players raise a staggering £30 million every week for Good Causes. A variety of Lottery-funded projects have touched the lives of many in the UK. For example, Lottery funding is supporting older people, helping vulnerable children and transforming local parks and sporting facilities.

“The National Lottery Awards recognise the unsung heroes, selfless volunteers and dedicated workers improving lives with Lottery funding. There are literally thousands of Lottery-funded projects across the UK deserving of recognition. So if you know of a project that is making an outstanding impact in your community, we want to hear from you.”

The National Lottery Awards have seven categories - each reflecting an area of Lottery funding: Arts, Education, Environment, Health, Heritage, Sport and Voluntary/Charity.

If you want to see a project celebrated in this year’s National Lottery Awards, or you are involved with a Lottery-funded project and want to nominate it, visit www.nationallotteryawards.org.uk to find out more or call 0207 293 2128. Entries must be received by Monday 12 March 2012.
