Sunday, January 26, 2014:  The National Lottery has released a hard-hitting infographic to highlight the significant impact of its funding to projects benefiting some of our society’s most vulnerable groups.

The infographic is released as part of the National Lottery’s ‘Just Imagine’ campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the massive impact that £31 billion in project funding has had across the UK since the first National Lottery draw 20 years ago.

A massive £526 million has been awarded in the last five years alone to projects helping people over the age of 60 to overcome isolation, learn new skills and improve their health.  A total of 1,458 grants have also been awarded to Citizen’s Advice Bureaux across the UK to help people with debt and housing problems.  In addition, £223m has been given to 1,714 organisations that help people most at risk of homelessness, as well as £12.9m donated to Shelter, The National Campaign for Homeless people.

Released on Twitter (@lottogoodcauses #JustImagine) and Facebook today, the video is the 26th in a series of 31 items to feature through January as part of ‘Just Imagine’ – one for each day of the month and each £1 billion of National Lottery funding.

For anyone wanting to find out more about funded projects in their area, the National Lottery has launched a ‘Good Cause Finder’.  To see projects in your area, or to find out more about Just Imagine January, visit www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk
