An infographic inspired by the UK’s green spaces has been released by the National Lottery to celebrate Day 22 of its ‘Just Imagine’ campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the massive impact that £31 billion in project funding has had across the UK since the first National Lottery draw 20 years ago.

The picture has been created to draw attention to the National Lottery’s funding of improvements to 700 parks and green spaces. Set against a spring backdrop, the image reveals that over the last five years the National Lottery has invested £131 million of good cause funding into allotments, community gardens and food projects.

Meanwhile, the silhouette of a cyclist represents the National Lottery’s £43.5 million of funding to the National Cycle Network, and the outline of a public bandstand represents the 100 that have been fully reinstated.  Other key statistics include the 700 playing fields that have been saved from closure and the 174,210 acres of land of importance to wildlife restored.

To enable people to learn more about National Lottery funded projects in their area, the National Lottery has launched a ‘Good Cause Finder’.  To see projects in your area, or to find out more about Just Imagine January, visit www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk
