Our vision is to make England an active and successful sporting nation. Our Community Investment Fund helps us achieve three sports and physical activity objectives: 

  • Start – to improve the health of the nation, particularly for disadvantaged groups
  • Stay – through a thriving network of clubs, coaches and volunteers, and a commitment to equality
  • Succeed in sport – through an infrastructure capable of developing world class performers.

Sport England have invested over £2 billion in sports in England.

Decisions about funding are made locally by the nine regional sports boards. Eligible projects will be assessed against the priorities laid out in each region's sports plan and the National Framework for Sport.  

 

Type of work funded

Sport England funds projects that help people get involved in sport and physical activity. This includes refurbishing existing facilities or building new ones and developing programmes and initiatives that use sport and activity to support community cohesion, improve health and raise education levels.  

 

Range of grant size:  minimum – maximum

Minimum is £10,000 

There is no maximum. 

 

Types of scheme (open / closed / targeted)

The Community Investment Fund is open. 

 

Geographical coverage

England – divided up into nine regions. Applications should be made direct to the region where the proposed project is based.

Decisions about Sport England funding (grants over £5,000) are made locally by the nine regional sports boards. Eligible projects will be assessed against the priorities laid out in each region's sports plan and the National Framework for Sport.
