Scottish Screen develops, encourages and promotes film, television and new media in Scotland. Funded by the Scottish Executive and through the National Lottery, our mission is to establish Scotland as a major screen production centre and project our culture to the world. 

 

Type of work funded

Scottish Screen development funding helps production companies with the development of feature film, live action drama, theatrical documentary and animation projects.

Production funding supports the production of feature films and documentaries, short dramas, documentaries and animations, and also supports organisations that want to run independent short film schemes. 

 

Range of grant size:  minimum – maximum

There is no minimum grant size; the maximum grant available is £500,000. 

 

Types of scheme (open / closed / targeted)

Geographical coverage

Grants are available to production companies based in Scotland. 

 

Any priority areas / key messages (for example, partnership funding)

The projects should have the potential to bring a significant production spend to Scotland. 

 

Application process (formal deadlines)

Applications are dealt with on a rolling application basis.
