Why was this project so good?
The Make it Local programme aimed to show how local authorities can work with digital agencies to unlock their data and provide really useful web-based services for their citizens. Sutton Council teamed up with web developer Adrian Short to develop a new resource for community borrowing - 'Sutton Bookshare'. Users are given an opportunity to register books they own and offer them as a community resource, lending titles to other residents in Sutton. The project is open source so any community-minded developer can now start their own Bookshare site.
